O-Ring Care and Tips
Updated
Proper care and safe operation of rubber O-rings and seals are essential for Polygroup above-ground pools. Remember, these pools are seasonal, and exposure to adverse weather conditions will shorten the lifespan of your pool's rubber components. Below are tips for caring for the rubber O-rings and seals on your pool.
Inspect the O-rings and seals every time you assemble or take down your pool. Clean the components with warm water and mild detergent only. Look for worn edges, fractures, or cuts. Replace any O-ring or seal that appears to be less than perfect. Water may leak from damaged rubber components.
Keep a thin coat of silicone lubricant on all rubber components to extend their lifespan. The rubber components should have a fine sheen to them but not be overly lubricated. Dry rot is one of the most prevalent causes of rubber component damage on a filtration system.
It is always advisable to keep spare O-rings and seals in case one fails in the middle of your swim season. Having extras means there is no break in the enjoyment of your pool for you and your family.
