CP2000-C Filtration System Troubleshooting
Updated
SYMPTOM | CAUSE | POSSIBLE SOLUTION |
Motor fails to start or kicks on and off | Unit Not Plugged In | Plug the GFCI into a 3-wire grounded outlet and press the reset button to turn the pump on. |
GFCI Outlet Breaker Tripped | Reset the circuit breaker on the electrical panel. If the problem persists, have an electrician check the circuit.
Low voltage | Check the line voltage; it must be in the range of 105 to 125 AC Volts.
No or slow water flow through the return fitting. | Low pool water level | Fill the pool to the fill line. The suction fitting must be at least 4 feet underwater. |
Inlet/Outlet clogged | Check for obstructions(s) at the filter cartridge, suction fitting, or return fitting.
Dirty filter cartridge | Clean or replace the filter cartridge. A spare cartridge makes service more convenient.
The filter pump is not cleaning the pool properly (Cloudy water, green; etc.) | Chlorine level | Maintain chlorine level between 1.0 to 1.6 ppm. |
pH level | Maintain pH level between 7.3 to 7.8.
Dirty filter cartridge | Clean or replace the filter cartridge. Spare cartridges make service easier.
Damaged filter cartridge | Inspect the filter cartridge for holes or tears. If visibly damaged; replace the filter cartridge.
Slow water flow | Check for obstructions(s) at the filter cartridge, suction fitting or return fitting.
Other chemicals required | Have the pool water sample tested by a pool supply store. It may be necessary to add other chemicals due to varying water quality in different localities.
Pool water very dirty | Chemicals are required to maintain clean pool water. Clean pool and filter more often.
Water leakage | At Suction/Return Fittings or oseconnections | Make sure hose clamps are positioned properly over the hose and o-ring to ensure a proper seal. Adjust hose clamp, check o-ring and re-tighten. Check hose for any holes or cracks and replace if needed. |
Vent Screw in Seal Top | Check O-ring for damage. Replace if needed. Tighten the Vent Screw.
Seal Top | Check Canister Gasket for damage. Replace if needed. Tighten the Seal Top.

Useful Tips
Symptom 1: Pump will not start or stay on and may turn off suddenly on its own.
Hold down the button "test" If you have a GFCI for 30 seconds, then release the button. Press the reset button to start the pump.
Check another appliance or small device, such as a hair dryer. If that doesn't work, the problem is not with the pump and the client should reset their circuit breaker. If the problem persists, call an electrician to check the circuit.
Is the pump hot? Pumps are protected by thermal overload. If the pump gets too hot, the circuit opens and the pump will stop operating until it cools. Please check in the operating times here. For best results, run the pump at night when the temperature is lower.

Symptom 2: There is no water flow or slow water flow:
Check the filter cartridge or replace filter cartridge if needed. Help with the cleaning of the filters can be found in Filter Cartridge Cleaning and Care, under Pool Support, Accessory Instructions and Tips.
Check for obstructions at all sites of the hose. You can also look inside hose for debris.
Check to see as air can be trapped inside the RP/RX canister for CP200-C pump and hoses. Be sure to run the water into the filter canister until it escapes from above the seal top and vent screw before securing it. Fixe and inspect hoses to prevent captured air pockets.

Symptom 3: Pump is not cleaning the pool (Murky or green tinted water):
Check the filter cartridge or replace filter cartridge if needed. Help with the cleaning of the filters can be found in Filter Cartridge Cleaning and Care, under Pool Support, Accessory Instructions and Tips.
Check for obstructions at all sites of the hose. You can also see pipe debris inside.
Use a chemical substance float device to release and ensure chemical are being released when the pump is not running. Apply to the pool on a regular basis.
Be sure to NOT use the swimming pool cover when the outside temperature too hot. The covered pool will become hot and will create algae.
