SFX Filtration System Setup
PRELIMINARY STEPS
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY and get a thorough understanding of what is required to assemble your SFX series Filter Pump.
Before you begin to assemble the pool, identify, count, and check all parts needed for assembly.
It is recommended that you have some PETROLEUM JELLY on hand for lubricating the gaskets.
FILTER PUMP IMPORTANT NOTES
Installer shall follow written instructions provided for operation of the filter pump systems.
All electrical components shall be installed in accordance with Article 680 of the National Electrical Code (NEC) “Swimming Pools, Fountains and Similar Installations” or its latest approved edition.
The Type D Filter Cartridge 7 will hold as many as 2 of the 1” diameter chlorine tablets and the Type A/C Filter Cartridge 7 will hold as many as 6 of the 1” diameter chlorine tablets. Check your chlorine levels to determine the proper number of chlorine tablets to add. The filter cartridge will automatically dispense chlorine into the pool as the Filter Pump runs. You must have the type of Filter Cartridge 7 with a central core mesh divider (See page 8) to use the chlorine dispenser. DO NOT use this to dispense powdered chlorine, shock treatment or any other type of chemicals as damage to the pump, filter cartridge, and pool will occur.
The SFX Series Filter Pump systems are manufactured by Polygroup™ and ETL control number 4000608 and 4006317 - double insulated and grounded - 120 V.A.C. - 60 Hz. (ALL Units must have a minimum of 105 V.A.C. to start and run properly).
FILTER PUMP POWER INFORMATION

THE FILTER CARTRIDGE WILL HOLD 1” DIAMETER CHLORINE TABLETS. CHECK YOUR CHLORINE LEVELS TO DETERMINE THE PROPER NUMBEROF TABLETS TO ADD.
Before assembling your product, please take a few minutes to check the contents and become familiar with all the parts.
WARNING: CLIMBING HAZARD! PLEASE PREVENT CHILDREN FROM CLIMBING ON THE FILTER CANISTER TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE POOL.
SETUP INSTRUCTIONS
Set up the pool by following all the instructions that come with the pool. Do not fill water until the Filter Pump is properly installed. Locate the Outlet and Inlet openings on the pool wall.
Install the Suction Fitting on the outlet opening of the pool.
Install the Return Fitting on the Inlet opening of the pool.
Remove the Filter Pump Assembly, Hoses, and Hose Clamps from the package.
Connect the Hose from the Suction Fitting to the Filter Pump Inlet.
Connect the Hose from the pool Return Fitting to the Filter Pump outlet.
Tighten all Hose Clamps to prevent water leakage.
Slip the Top Cover onto the skimmer canister.
Fill water to a proper level, plug in the GFCI, and enjoy clean pool water.
FILTER PUMP OPERATION
Plug the GFCI power cord to a properly grounded receptacle at least 15 feet (4.5m) away from the pool.
IMPORTANT: To start the filter pump, press the RESET button on the GFCI plug .
Check the return fitting on the inside of the pool for correct flow, it should feel like a solid stream of water returning to the pool.You can use the return flow as a gauge to determine when the filter needs cleaning or replacement. If you feel a reduction in flow, clean or replace filter.
Test water and adjust as needed, read Section 9 - “POOL WATER CARE”. VERY IMPORTANT - FILTER PUMP ALONE WILL NOT PREVENT ALGAE FROM GROWING IN POOL WATER; THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE BY MAINTAINING PROPERCHLORINE AND pH LEVELS AT ALL TIMES!
The filter cartridge may need to be cleaned and/or replaced several times at start up until the correct chlorine and pH levelsare attained. We recommend that you keep at least one spare filter cartridge on hand at all times. Filter cartridges may be purchased at the store you purchased your pool from, or ordered from Polygroup™.
To turn off the filter pump, unplug the GFCI power cord 2 6 .
PUMP MOTOR PROTECTION
IMPORTANT! Your filter pump is protected by a thermal switch. The switch senses the temperature of the filter pump. If it gets too hot, the switch willstop the pump from running until it cools off. It will automatically turn back on when the filter pump has cooled down. This is a safety device to preventpump damage and prolong service life. If your pump is automatically turning off, it is because of high pool water temperature and/or low water flowsthrough the pump. If this happens you need to check the water flow and correct it if needed, as this filter pump uses the water flow for cooling. Youmay also want to run the pump at night when the temperature is lower.
FILTER CARTRIDGE CLEANING & REPLACEMENT
First, unplug (turn off) the Pump. Then remove the Top Cover 5. Remove the Strainer Basket 24 and the Filter Cartridge 7.
Basic Cleaning: Clean the filter cartridge by thoroughly pressurewashing inside and out with a garden hose. Allow a few hours for the filter to fully dry and CAREFULLY BRUSH the pleats (to avoid wear out, do not scrub the pleated surface areas). Cleaning and scrubbing a filter too vigorously will also wear out the cartridge much faster than if it is simply hosed off correctly.
To remove tough oils (e.g. suntan, bodyoils, algae, etc) it is recommendedto soak cartridge in a 1lb trisodium phosphate solution (or any other strong detergent) to 5Ga water for up to 12hrs. Rinse cartridge to remove dirt. To remove algae, add 1/2 pint of pool chlorine or 1 pint of liquid household bleach to the cleaning solution, 1 hour before retrieving the cartridge. Thoroughly rinse before usage on filter case.
Excessive calcium and/or mineral deposits may build up on a filter cartridgeand should be handled differently. Contact your local pool supply store to ask about additional filter cartridge cleaners or treatment for calcium or mineral deposits. Check pool chemistry for high pH or alkalinity; this may cause a calcium or mineral build-up.
Re-assemble in reverse order.
A spare “stand-by” Filter Cartridge 7 is an excellent investment. It provides a convenient way to continue filtration of your pool while cleaning or replacing a dirtyFilter Cartridge 7. Also, a well-maintained, clean cartridge assures you that your filter will always be ready to operate at peak efficiency.
Filter cartridges may be purchased at the store you purchased your pool from, or ordered from Polygroup™. Always replace with genuine Polygroup™ SUMMERWAVES™ filter cartridges.
POOL MAINTENANCE
Check and adjust pH and chlorine levels daily using required chemicals. See Section “POOL WATER CARE”.
Check filter pump output daily. If flow is reduced, see Symptom 2 in Section “TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE”.
Check filter pump, hoses, fitting for leaks. If a leak is found, see Symptom 4 in Section “TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE”.
POOL WATER CARE
The following items are required and readily available from your local pool supply store:
TEST KIT - Used to check chlorine and pH levels.
1” CHLORINE TABLETS - Used to disinfect pool water and help control the growth of algae.
pH CONTROL CHEMICALS - Used to adjust pH levels Up (Soda Ash) or Down (Acid).
ALGAECIDES - Used to eliminate algae.
SUPERCHLORINATOR - Used to destroy combined chlorine, ammonia, nitrogen, and organic compounds.
LEAF NET with handle - Used to remove leaves, trash, insects, etc. from pool.
CHLORINE DISPENSER (Supplied with Polygroup™”s patented Filter Cartridge U.S. Pat. 7,005,062) - Used to dispense 1” chlorine tablets ONLY.
Use test kit daily to check pH and chlorine levels. Adjust accordingly using the required chemicals.
NOTE : Excessive levels of chlorine or low pH levels will damage pool liner.
The pool can be cleaned using a garden hose powered vacuum from Polygroup™ or a pool supply store.
Using a foot bath near the pool to wash off your feet prior to entering the pool will assist in keeping the pool clean.
Well water often presents special problems with water chemistry. If you must use well water, take a sample to your local pool chemical supplier for analysis beforeadding ANY chemicals
Refer to the POOL”s USER MANUEL for the capacity of your pool. You will need this information to determine the amount of chemicals you will need to correct thepool water. NOTE: It is recommended to use a 5 gallon bucket of water to mix and dissolve your chemicals and then applying directly to the pool water. Follow manufacturers label directions on all chemicals.*Most pool supply stores will test your pool water for free and advise you of what chemicals you need, and the correct amount to use for your pool. You will need to tell them the pool capacity in gallons.
IMPORTANT - We cannot over-stress the importance of proper and adequate daily chemical treatment. Chlorine and pH levels must be properly maintained at alltimes. PUMP AND FILTER ALONE WILL NOT PREVENT ALGAE FROM GROWING IN POOL WATER; THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE BY MAINTAINING PROPER CHLORINE AND pH LEVELS AT ALL TIMES.
Maintain pH level between 7.3 and 7.8.
Maintain chlorine level between 1.0 and 1.6 ppm (parts per million).
Superchlorinate your pool at least every other week.
NOTE :
Hot weather/heavy use may require pH and chlorine levels to be maintained on the upper side of the scale and superchlorination of the pool every week.
Using a pool cover and/or solar cover will assist in maintaining your pH and chlorine levels by reducing the amount of evaporation from your pool.
CAUTION - Concentrated chlorine levels and low pH levels will damage pool. You must follow the instructions for the pool chemicals you use, as to quantityand recommended usage. NEVER drop lumps or pellets of chemicals in pool; this may present a hazard to swimmers and/or damage your liner.
POOL PUMP DISASSEMBLY & STORAGE
First, unplug the main power cord of the system.
Remove the Top Cover 5 , Strainer Basket and Filter Cartridge 7 and remove any chlorine tablets left inside the core section of the filter.
Loosen all Hose Clamps . Remove the Return Hose and allow water to drain out.
Remove the Return Fitting - and clean the parts and lubricate Gasket with petroleum jelly and reassemble all parts then place them in a safe place.
Remove the Motor assembly 3 by turning the Motor Seal Nut 1 counter-clockwise. Now clean the pump, dry it off, and then lubricate the Motor Seal 4on the motor with petroleum jelly and place it in a safe place.
Please refer to illustration on next page to reassemble the motor.
Remove the Filter pump canister 9 from liner by turning the Skimmer Seal Ring counter-clockwise. Remove the Weir 8 and Strainer Basket . Clean allparts and dry them off. Then reassemble the filter cartridge, strainer basket, weir, top cover, etc. onto the canister. Place the assembled unit in a safe place.
MOTOR REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTION
IMPORTANT: The Preferred Method Is To Drain Enough Water From The Pool First Then Dismount The Entire Skimmer System Before Replacement. IfUser Prefer To Operate It On The Pool, Please Refer To Below Process. Please Note Incorrect Handling Method May Cause Water Leakage Between Canister and Liner
Insert the Water Stopper into the water intake of pump. Push the Stopper to make it engage with Skimmer Seal Ring closely.
Unplug the power.
Detach the Locking Ring and Diverter Fitting by anticlockwise turning. Insert the Return fitting plug (RF Plug) .
Remove Top Cover 5, Strainer Basket , Filter Cartridge 7, it isadvised to use a water container, such as a bucket shown with dotted line in the illustration to collect the purged water.
Remove the Motor Seal Nut 1 by turning according to the arrow direction.Do not pull or push the canister as you can to avoid engagement damage between canister and pool liner.
Remove Motor assembly 3 . Be careful not to lose the rubber nozzle 2 .
Check the Motor Seal 4 from bottom side to make sure it at the original slot correctly.Use left hand to hold the motor from Canister inside. Make sure the motor water outlet align with Canister outlet direction. Then use right hand to tighten the Motor Seal Nut 1 like the arrow direction (One more person help will be easier for replacement).
ROTOR REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTION
Disassemble the wall fitting and canister like item 7 POOL PUMP DISASSEMBLY AND STORAGE procedure.
Detach the motor assembly 3 from canister 9 by turning the counter-clockwise. Be careful not to lose the Motor Seal Gasket 2 .
Refer to below motor assembly illustration to replace the Rotor Assembly ,remove the Volute Cover and pull out the Rotor Assembly from the Stator. Insert new Rotor Assembly into the Stator .
Align the Shaft properly and fasten the Volute cover with the Volute Cover Lock Nut or with the Volute Cover Bolt and Nut Set .
Attach the Motor Seal 4 to the outlet of Motor Assembly.
Slowly insert the motor assembly back into the Canister 9 , so that the Motor Seal 4 is aligned with the outlet port of the Canister 9. Also please refer to themotor assembly process ”G” in 7 POWER FILTER DISASSEMBLY AND STORAGE.
Tighten the Motor Seal Nut 1 by turning the clockwise, be sure the Motor Seal 4 is properly in place.

Tighten all Hose Clamps to prevent water leakage.
Do not plug in the filter pump at this point. Begin to fill water until the water level reaches the fill line.
Air is now trapped inside the Filter Pump system, which will prevent the water from flowing smoothly. To VENT the system (release the trapped air), open the Vent Screw at the top of the pump by turning it counter-clockwise. The water pressure will force out all the trapped air inside the Filter Pump system. Tighten the Vent Screw when you see water flowing out from the Seal Top.
Adjust the Return Fitting Diverter to maximize the circulation of the pool water. It is recommended to point the diverter down and away from the suction or water intake for optimum pool circulation.
FILTER PUMP OPERATION

FILTER CARTRIDGE CLEANING & REPLACEMENT
Turn off & unplug the Filter Pump. Remove the RF Diverter from the Return Fitting and plug with the RF Plug . Hand tighten the SF Cap onto the Suction Fitting .
To depressurize the Filter Pump system, vent the filter pump by twisting the Vent Screw counter-clockwise.
Use both hands to twist off the Seal Top by turning counter-clockwise. Remove the Filter Cartridge .
After you are finished cleaning the filter cartridge, liberally lubricate the GASKET with petroleum jelly and re-assemble in reverse order. Before restarting the filter pump, be sure to remove the RF PLUG
and SF CAP .
The filter cartridge can be cleansed of coarse dirt and debris by pressure washing inside and out with a garden hose, making sure to wash between all pleats. Fine particles of dirt are more easily removed from the filter pleats when the cartridge is dry. Therefore, after hosing the cartridge, allow the filter to dry and CAREFULLY BRUSH, but DO NOT scrub the pleated surface areas. Cleaning and scrubbing a filter too vigorously will also wear out the cartridge much faster than if it is simply hosed off
correctly.
Suntan oils, body oils, and algae can form a coating on the filter pleats which may not be thoroughly removed by hosing. Such films of oils and/or algae will rapidly clog up the filters” pores, greatly reducing filtration. Therefore, it is imperative to remove such materials from the filter element as soon as possible. To remove oils, we recommend soaking the cartridge in a solution of 1 pound of tri-sodium phosphate (TSP or any other strong detergent) to 5 gallons of water for up to 12 hours. Tri-sodium phosphate is available in many supermarkets, hardware stores, or janitorial supply stores. After the oils have been removed, rinse the filter cartridge to remove any dirt. If algae is a problem, add 1/2 pint of pool chlorine or 1 pint of liquid household bleach to the cleaning solution, 1 hour before removing the filter cartridge from the solution. Thoroughly rinse the filter cartridge before replacing it in the filter case. Check the pool chemistry to determine the cause of algae growth.

POOL PUMP DISASSEMBLY & STORAGE
First, turn the pump off and unplug the main power cord of the system.
Remove the RF Diverter from the Return Fitting and then plug the Return Fitting with the RF Plug Now, hand tighten the SF Cap onto the Suction Fitting .
Slowly unscrew the Vent Screw from the Seal Top allowing the Filter Pump to depressurize.
Remove the Seal Top by turning counter-clockwise.
Remove the Filter Cartridge and remove any chlorine tablets left inside the core section of the filter.
Loosen all four Hose Clamps , remove the Hoses and allow any remaining water to drain out.
Clean and dry all filter pump parts including filter cartridges.
Liberally lubricate the O-rings at the Seal Top and Gasket 16 on the Canister with petroleum jelly, and then reassemble it, along with the Seal Top , Vent Screw onto the Canister . Store all parts carefully in an airtight plastic bag
All items should be stored in a dry environment that remains above 32 degrees Fahrenheit at all times.
PUMP REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR TROUBLESHOOTING
Unplug the Power Filter Pump. Remove the RF Diverter from the Return Fitting, and then plug the Return Fitting with the RF Plug . Hand tighten the SF Cap onto the Suction Fitting.
To depressurize the Filter Pump system, vent the filter pump by twisting the Vent Screw counter-clockwise.
Loosen the Hose Clamps at the filter pump inlet and outlet. Detach both Hoses from the filter pump.
Turn the filter pump up-side-down. The Base is now locked by a latch pin. To release the lock, push the latch pin down and then turn left. Detach the Base 15 from the Canister by turning counter-clockwise.
Remove the Base from the Canister.
Remove the Motor Assembly from the Canister . Be careful not to lose the Rubber Nozzle.
ROTOR INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
To replace the Rotor Assembly , remove the Volute Cover and pull out the Rotor Assembly from the Pump Body . Inspect the rotor assembly to make sure that it has all of its parts and that the center shaft, magnetic axle, or impeller blades are not broken as this will cause the pump to fail. If your rotor assembly is broken, a complete rotor assembly may be purchased at () without having to replace the whole pump.PLEASE NOTE: Even if the rotor assembly is in perfect condition if it is not seated properly between the volute cover and the pump it will not function correctly.
Once the rotor assembly has been checked or if replacing with a new rotor assembly, slowly insert the rotor assembly back down into the pump carefully. The force of the magnet will pull the rotor assembly into the pump.
Align the Shaft properly and fasten the Volute cover with the Volute Cover Lock Nut or with the Volute Cover Bolt and Nut Set.
Attach the Rubber Nozzle to the outlet of Motor Assembly. To complete assembly, proceed to ”Pump Replacement Instructions” below.
PUMP REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Lubricate the Canister Gasket and Insert it into the groove on the bottom of
the Canister
Please make sure the cord has been placed through the Pump Base before replacing Pump . Then slowly insert the Pump Motor Assembly back into the Canister .
Once the Pump is inserted into the Canister , please make sure the arrow with the indentation is pointing to the matching indentation on the canister and make sure that the Rubber Nozzle is aligned with the water Outlet on the Canister. There is a groove on the pump that needs to be aligned with the notch on the canister (visible from bottom only). Please make sure that the pump is correctly aligned, if it is not aligned correctly the Pump Base can still lock in place but may leak.
Once the Pump is properly aligned, be sure the Gasket is properly in place. Then slide the Pump Base up to the base of the canister and carefully tighten the Pump Base onto the threads by turning clockwise. Make sure the pump base is not cross threaded. Cross threading can cause leaking out of the bottom of the canister.
To lock the Pump Base, apply the latch pin by turning to the right.
ASME Compliant Suction Fitting Information PSF-100A AND PSF-100B SUCTION OUTLET (FOR ABOVE GROUND POOLS)
PSF-100A and PSF-100B Suction Outlets are certified by IAPMO in accordance with the ASME/ANSI A112.19.8b-2009 Suction Fitting for use in Swimming Pools, Wading Pools, Spas, and Hot Tubs.
This is a submerged suction outlet for use with above ground swimming pools.
For single drain only. Use only ONE outlet for each pump.
Do not locate this suction outlet on sitting areas or on the backrest for such seating area.
Install this outlet at location recommended by the pool manufacturer.
The maximum allowable flow rate of this suction outlet is 45 gallons per minute (2,700 gallons per hour).
Connection Hose:Model PSF-100-A is to be connected with 1 1/4” (31.8mm) diameter hose.Model PSF-100-B is to be connected with 1 1/2” (38.1mm) diameter hose.
The suction outlet is to be mounted at the suction outlet opening as specified by the manufacturer of the above ground pool. The diameter of this opening should be within the range of 1.77” to 1.85” (45.0mm to 47.0mm).
The suction outlet PSF-100A or PSF-100B is to be replaced every 5 years.
No tool is required for installation.

CAUTION! DO NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE FLOW RATE:

Carefully observe and inspect the suction outlet for damage and tampering before each use of the pool.
Missing, broken or cracked suction outlet must be replaced before using the pool.
Loose suction fitting should be reattached or replaced before using the pool.
Remove and store Suction Outlet assembly if temperatures are expected to fall below 32° F.

Pro Series Round Frame Pool
Locate a flat, level area to set up the pool. Make sure the ground is free from sharp objects that may puncture the pool
Carefully unfold the pool and inspect seams for manufacturing defects. Lay the pool flat on the ground. Let the pool sit in the sun for at least 2 hours prior to installation. This will help ensure a wrinkle-free fit because the pool material will be more pliable, allowing it to form into shape during installation.
Locate the horizontal beams (shorter beams with a larger diameter and holes on the ends) and insert them into the pockets stitched along the top edge of the pool wall. Rotate them in the pockets so the holes are on the top and bottom of the pipe protruding from each end of the pocket.
Locate the T-fittings and begin attaching them to the horizontal beams, aligning the holes as you go. Do not install any of the pins at this time. Continue around the pool installing all the T-fittings onto the horizontal beams.
When you reach the last connection, install the last T-fitting on the end of one of the beams. Lift up on both of the last two beams in order to get them to insert into the T-fitting. Angle them toward each other and guide the beam into the fitting as you lower them both down together.
Begin inserting pins and grommets down through the top of the T-fittings until the pin snaps into place on the lower side of the fitting.
Locate the vertical legs, which come pre-installed with spring pins at the top end. Insert the leg down through the belt that runs around the middle of the pool. Connect them into the top frame by pushing the buttons in as you insert the leg into the T-fitting. Ensure the buttons pop out of the T-fitting to confirm that the vertical leg is locked in place.
Insert plastic leg caps on the bottoms of the vertical legs.
Check for stability. Make sure all fittings, legs and beams properly fit. All of the pins should be securely fastened in all of the holes. Grab the vertical legs at the bottom and gently pull them out making sure they remain vertical and perpendicular to the top ring.
On some larger pools, you will need to place the strap ring that comes in the box on top of the pool frame and slide it all the way down to the leg caps. Strap ring showed below highlighted in yellow.
Install the filtration system. This schematic illustrates how the SFS Filtration System is installed with a Pro Series Round Frame Pool.
Make sure the drain fitting is securely plugged and the cap is in place. Start filling the pool with water until it reaches an inch of water. Stopfilling the pool and smooth the wrinkles out of the bottom of the pool, making sure the bottom is flat and round equally in all directions.
Continue filling the pool with water and continue to check the vertical legs and make sure they remain vertical and perpendicular to the top ring.

Pro Series Rectangular Frame Pool
Locate a flat, level area to set up the pool. Make sure the ground is free from sharp objects that may puncture the pool.
Carry the pool liner to the desired location. DO NOT drag the liner on the ground to the location.
Locate the pool so that the pump opening is 10 to 21 feet away from an electrical outlet.
Connect the long Horizontal Beams; there should be two two sets of these.
Example: If there are 6 long vertical beams, each row of connected beams will be 3 long beams.
Carefully slide the connected horizontal beam's swedged end into the sleeves on the long sides of the pool liner.
Connect the short horizontal beams, there are also two sets of these.
Example:If a customer has 4 short vertical beams, each row of connected beams will be 2 beams long.
Carefully slide the connected short horizontal beam's swedged end into the sleeves on the short sides of the pool. All swedged ends should now be pointing in a clockwise direction after they are inserted.
Align the holes of all horizontal beams with the sleeve openings. This allows you to connect the U-shaped beams later.
Attach the corner pieces to the horizontal beams with the swedged ends still pointing clockwise. The corner pieces DO NOT have a hole to catch the spring pin. Only the horizontal beams have holes to catch the spring pins.
Slide the U-beams into the designated flaps at the bottom of the pool liner. Once this is completed, all U-shaped beams should be lying flat on the ground surrounding the pool. Please see images below.
Tilt the prongs of the U-beams up toward the horizontal beams, pinch the spring button and push into the corresponding holes on the horizontal beams. Repeat this step for all U-beams.
Make sure the drain fitting is securely plugged and the cap is in place.
Start filling the pool with water until 1 inch of water is on the bottom. Pause filling and smooth the wrinkles out on the bottom of the pool by pushing outward from the inside of the pool. When you are finished, the pool should lie even and flat. If more than 1-2 inches of water collects on any one side before the pool starts filling in the center, the pool is not level enough and must be moved to a level area.
Install the filter pump; see this schematic to aid in the SFS Filtration System installation or the SFX schematics. Once the filter pump is installed, continue filling water into the pool. When the water is half filled, the top frame will tend to bend down at the middle. THIS IS NORMAL. Continue to fill water to the optimal level as indicated on the face plate of the filter system and the frame will restore its shape.

DISASSEMBLING THE FRAME
POOL PREPARATION
Before assembling your product, please take a few minutes to check the contents and become familiar with all the parts.
WARNING- DO NOT overfill the pool and/or allow people to lie over or sit on the pool wall - DOING SO CAN CAUSE PERMANENT INJURY!
DRAIN the pool to the proper level after a heavy rain.
TIP:It will be much easier to install your pool if you unfold it and let it lay in direct sunlight for about 2 hours prior to installation. This will help to ensure a wrinkle-free fit as the pool material will become more pliable, allowing it to form into shape during installation.
⚠ WARNING - VERY IMPORTANT! SITE MUST BE LEVEL, STABLE, AND COMPACTED SOIL.
The pool must be assembled on a smooth and level site of firm soil that is free of stones, gravel, sticks, blacktop, or other oil base compounds.
Do not install pool on a wooden deck or any type of wooden surface. You cannot use sand and/or uncompacted soil to provide a level surface for this pool; it will only wash out.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW WILL CAUSE POOL TO COLLAPSE AND WILL VOID THE WARRANTY!
Select a level area, and completely remove all debris, twigs, stones, etc. DO NOT select an area under overhead electrical lines, trees, or within 15 feet of a house, building, etc.
The pool shall be located a minimum distance of 6ft (1.83m) from any electrical receptacle.
All 125 volt, 15 and 20 ampere receptacles located within 20ft (6.0m) of the pool shall be protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). The 20ft (6m) distance is measured via the shortest straight line distance the supply cord would follow without piercing a floor, wall, ceiling, doorway, window, orother permanent barrier.
Contact your local utilities, checking that no underground cables, telephone lines, gas lines, etc. run beneath the area you have selected.
SETUP INSTRUCTIONS
Locate a level and flat area to setup the pool. Make sure the ground is free from sharp objects as it may puncture the pool.
Carefully unfold the pool and inspect seams for manufacturing defects. Lay the pool out flat on the ground. Let the pool sit in the sun for at least 2 hours prior to installation(this will help insure a wrinkle-free fit because the pool material will be more pliable allowing it to form into shape during installation).
Locate the pool so that the pump is 10 to 21 feet away from the electrical outlet.

Locate the Vertical Legs, they come pre-installed with V spring pins (in yellow) at the top end. Insert the leg down through the belt that runs around the middle of the pool. Connect them into the top frame by pushing the buttons in as you insert the leg into the T-Fitting. Ensure the buttons pop out of the T-fitting to confirm that the Vertical Leg is locked in place.
Insert Plastic leg caps on the bottoms of the vertical legs.
Check for stability. Make sure all fittings, legs, and beams properly fit and all the pins have been securely fastened in all of the holes. Grab the vertical legs at the bottom and gently pull them out making sure they remain vertical and perpendicular to the top ring.
On some larger pools, you will need to place the strap ring that comes in the box on top of the pool frame and slide it all the way down to the leg caps.Strap ring shown below highlighted in yellow.
Install the filtration system.
Make sure the drain fitting is plugged securely and the cap is in place. Start filling the pool with water until it reaches an inch of water. Pause filling and smooth the wrinkles out of the bottom of the pool making sure the bottom is flat and round equally in all directions.
Continue filling and continue to check the vertical legs and make sure they remain vertical and perpendicular to the top ring.
REMOVE AND ONLY APPLY 16x48 WATER CAPACITY
DISASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Draining the Pool
Locate the drain plug on the outside pool wall and remove the drain cap. A standard garden hose will thread onto the drain fitting. Extend the hose to the area where the water is to be drained. Open the drain plug on the inside wall of the pool and water will drain out through the hose. If you can't find the drain plug on the inside, the ”useful tips” section below for troubleshooting.

Remove any remaining water. Wash and completely dry pool using a soft cotton cloth. Push the drain plug into the fitting and replace the cap.
Frame Pools:If your pool has metal frame work, disassemble those pieces. This is done depending on the model of pool. You either depress the plastic buttons and slide those pieces apart, or remove plastic pins holding pieces together and slide those pieces apart. If you aren't sure how to take down the pool, refer to the set-up sheet and reverse the order of the steps.
Clean all parts and wipe dry.Storetogether in a safe storage place for reassembly next season. Order replacement parts for any damaged, broken, or worn parts from Polygroup customer service at 1-888-719-0070 or at ouronline store.It is best to order parts now so you will have them ready for when you set up the pool next season.
Solar blankets, covers, ladders, etc., should be cleaned and dried before storing.
TIP: The drain to the pool will be found a few inches from the ground on the left or right side of the filter canister. If you can not find the drain cap, it likely meansthe liner floor was not spread evenly and the cap is under the lip of the pool.
Run your hand under the floor of the pool on both sides of the canister. Once the cap is found, expose itby pushing up on the pool enough to unscrew the cap. This will likely require the use of a secondary method of removing water from the pool, such as an independent water pump.
There are slight differences in garden hose nozzle threads. This can cause some hoses not to screw properly onto the drain cap threading. Basic hoses have a higher probability of fitting the thread.
DISASSEMBLING THE FRAME
Pin & Grommet Removal
A small rubber mallet can be used to tap the ends of the pins through the bottom of the horizontal beams along the top of the frame.
Alternately, a pair of needle nose pliers can be utilized to remove the pins. Using the needle nose pliers, compress the ends of pin together and push up. The compression of the end allows the exposes flanges that lock under the lip of the hole to slip inside the horizontal beam. Slip the needle nose pliers underneath the head of the pin and pull up, the pin can then be removed from the horizontal beam.

Dismantling Frame (After Pin Removal)
NOTE:There are many reasons why at the end of the season why frame components will not come apart. In the extreme heat of summer, metal expands which makes it difficult if not impossible to take frame apart. It is suggested to wait until the temperature drops giving time for the metal to cool and the metal to ”Shrink” back to its normal dimensions.
There is also a phenomenon known ashydrolysis, where the salty air and water creates a situation where the frame components all but weld together. What is suggested if you live in a high humidity area with salty air or if you are using a salt water filter is to use a WD40 pretreatment or other silicone spray on all joints before putting the frame together.
You can also use the WD40 at the end of the season to break apart the joints. Be certain to wipe away any excess before putting the frame together. Clean off all spray before storing the frame for the off season.
Metal expands in heat. Allow the pool frame to cool into the early evening before continuing dis-assembly
Use two people to make the process easier. The horizontal beam is pulled away from the T-fitting by one person. The second person pulls the T-fitting the opposite direction, lifting up on both in a ”opening a draw bridge” like motion to release the tension of the frame.
Rotate frame pieces clockwise, then counter clockwise. Repeat to aid in separating frame components. Utilizing two people makes the process much easier.
Leg caps can be difficult to remove. This is due to the extreme weight of the pool with water pressing down on them. Tap the bottom and sides of leg caps with a rubber mallet to loosen dirt and grim. Rotate the cap back and forth, clockwise and counter clockwise to loosen. Having a second person hold the vertical leg may be helpful.
