Storage

There is no industry standard for deflating inflatable ring pools. Below is just one suggested option of deflating your Polygroup Quickset Pool.

1. Obtain a spring loaded heavy clamp, like the one shown above, with plastic guards. The tip guards will protect the pool from damage.

   ​

2. Use your fingers to push in on both sides of the pool's value stem. This will open the reverse valve on the inside.

   ​

3. Utilize the clamp to keep the valve open while freeing up both hands to squeeze air out of the inflatable ring.

   ​

4. This process is time consuming but does offer a good way of safely removing the air. Once the ring is empty, remove the clamp.

Frame Storage

1. All parts should be cleaned with mild soap and lukewarm water. DO NOT use detergent or hot water.

   ​

2. Make sure all parts are dry before storing to prevent mildew.

   ​

3. Store all parts in a dry, heated area where temperatures do not go below 32° F or above 125° F.

   ​

4. Failure to follow the proper storage instructions could cause damage to pool parts and void warranty.

   ​

5. YOU MUST FOLLOW THE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS TO REASSEMBLE YOUR POOL NEXT SEASON. Pool site must be cleared and leveled again before setting up your pool.

Useful Tips

1. Pool components, including filter canister, liner, and frame can be stored in large plastic containers with lids to protect the parts.

   ​

2. Check the inside of the frame components for dirt and other debris and remove.

   ​

3. Keep an extra bag of pins and grommets in case you break one. You can purchase a bag of 10 at our online store or you may call Polygroup customer service at  1-888-919-0070.

   ​

4. Solar blankets, leaf covers, ladders, etc., should be cleaned and dried before storing.

1. Check local regulations for specific directions regarding disposal of swimming pool water.

   ​

2. Make sure the drain plug inside the pool is plugged in place.

   ​

3. Twist off the cap of the drain valve on the outside of the pool.

   ​

4. Attach a 5/8” garden hose to the drain valve.

   ​

5. Place the other end of the garden hose in an area where the water can be safely drained away from the house and other nearby structures.

   ​

6. Unplug the inner cap of the to start draining the pool.

   ​

7. When the water stops draining, start lifting the pool from the side opposite the drain, leading any remaining water to the drain and emptying the pool completely.

   ​

8. Replace drain cap on outside of pool.

   ​

9. Completely deflate the top ring, and remove all connecting parts.

   ​

10. Be sure that the pool and all parts are completely dry before storage. Air dry the liner in the sun until completely dry before folding (see drawing 1). Sprinkle some talcum powder to prevent the vinyl from sticking together and to absorb any residual moisture.

    ​

11. Create a square shape. Starting at one side, fold one-sixth of liner into itself twice. Do the same on the opposite side (see drawings 2 & 3).

    ​

12. Once you have created two opposing folded sides, simply fold one over the other like closing a book (see drawings 4 & 5).

    ​

13. Fold the two long ends to the middle (see drawing 6).

    ​

14. Fold one over the other like closing a book, and finally compact the liner.

    ​

15. Store the liner and accessories in a dry, temperature controlled storage location, between 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius) and 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius).

    ​

16. The original packing can be used for storage.

    ​

Winterizing Your Above Ground Pool

After usage, you can easily empty and store away your pool in a safe place. Some pool owners, however, choose to leave their pool up all year round. In cold areas, where freezing temperatures occur, there can be a risk of ice damage to your pool. We therefore recommend you drain, disassemble, and properly store the pool, when the temperature drops below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius). Clean the pool water thoroughly, please see 'How to Clean a Polygroup Liner' for more detail information.

1. Clean the pool water thoroughly. If the type is a Quick Set Pool, make sure that the top ring is properly inflated.

   ​

2. Remove the skimmer (if applicable) or any accessories attached to the threaded strainer connector. Replace strainer grid if necessary. Be sure all accessories parts are clean and completely dry before storage.

   ​

3. Plug the Inlet and Outlet fitting from the inside of the pool with the plug provided (sizes 16' and below). Close the Inlet and Outlet Plunger Valve (sizes 17' and above).

   ​

4. Remove the ladder (if applicable) and store in a safe place. Be sure the ladder is completely dry before storage.

   ​

5. Remove the hoses that connect the pump and filter to the pool.

   ​

6. Add the appropriate chemicals for the winter period. Consult your local pool dealer as to which chemicals you should use and how to use them. This can vary greatly by region.

   ​

7. Cover pool with Polygroup™ Pool Cover.

   IMPORTANT NOTE: Polygroup™ POOL COVER IS NOT A SAFETY COVER.

   ​

8. Clean and drain the pump, filter housing, and hoses. Remove and discard the old filter cartridge. Keep a spare cartridge for the next season.

   ​

9. Bring pump and filter parts indoors and store in a safe and dry area, preferably between 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius) and 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius).

Frame dis-assembly

Below are tips that can make the process easier.

​

Pin and grommet removal

1. A small rubber mallet can be used to tap the ends of the pins through the bottom of the horizontal beams along the top of the frame.

2. Alternately, a pair of needle nose pliers can be utilized to remove the pins. Using the needle nose pliers, compress the ends of pin together and push up. The compression of the end allows the exposes flanges that lock under the lip of the hole to slip inside the horizontal beam. Slip the needle nose pliers underneath the head of the pin and pull up, the pin can then be removed from the horizontal beam.

Dismantling frame after pin removal

Tip: There are many reasons why, at the end of the season why frame components will not come apart. In the extreme heat of summer, metal expands, which makes it difficult if not impossible, to take frame apart. It is suggested to wait until the temperature drops giving time for the metal to cool and the metal to ”Shrink” back to its normal dimensions.

​

There is also a phenomenon known as hydrolysis, where the salty air and water creates a situation where the frame components all but weld together.

​

What is suggested if you live in a high humidity area with salty air or if you are using a salt water filter, is to use a WD40 pretreatment or other silicone spray on all joints before putting the frame together. You can also use the WD-40 at the end of the season to break apart the joints. Be certain to wipe away any excess before putting the frame together. Clean off all spray before storing the frame for the off-season.

1. Metal expands in heat. Allow the pool frame to cool into the early evening before continuing dis-assembly.

   ​

2. Use two people to make the process easier. The horizontal beam is pulled away from the T-fitting by one person.

   ​

3. The second person pulls the T-fitting the opposite direction, lifting up on both in a ”opening a draw bridge” like motion to release the tension of the frame.

   ​

4. Rotate frame pieces clockwise, then counter clockwise. Repeat to aid in separating frame components. Utilizing two people makes the process much easier.

   ​

5. Leg caps can be difficult to remove. This is due to the extreme weight of the pool with water pressing down on them. Tap the bottom and sides of leg caps with a rubber mallet to loosen dirt and grim. Rotate the cap back and forth, clockwise and counter clockwise to loosen. Having a second person hold the vertical leg may be helpful.

Draining the Pool

1. Locate the drain plug on the outside pool wall and remove the drain cap. A standard garden hose will thread onto the drain fitting. Extend the hose to the area where the water is to be drained. Open the drain plug on the inside wall of the pool and water will drain out through the hose. If you can't find the drain plug on the inside, the ”useful tips” section below for troubleshooting.

   ​

2. Remove any remaining water. Wash and completely dry the pool using a soft cotton cloth. Push the drain plug into the fitting and replace the cap.

   ​

   Frame Pools: If your pool has a metal framework, disassemble those pieces. This is done depending on the model of the pool. You either depress the plastic buttons and slide those pieces apart, or remove the plastic pins holding the pieces together and slide those pieces apart. If you aren't sure how to take down the pool, refer to the set-up sheet and reverse the order of the steps.

   ​

3. Clean all parts and wipe dry. Store together in a safe storage place for reassembly next season. Order replacement parts for any damaged, broken, or worn parts from Polygroup customer service at 1-888-919-0070 or at our online store. It is best to order parts now so you will have them ready for when you set up the pool next season.

4. Solar blankets, covers, ladders, etc., should be cleaned and dried before storing.

Useful Tips

1. The drain to the pool will be found a few inches from the ground on the left or right side of the filter canister. If you can not find the drain cap, it likely means the liner floor was not spread evenly, and the cap is under the lip of the pool. Run your hand under the floor of the pool on both sides of the canister. Once the cap is found, expose it by pushing up on the pool enough to unscrew the cap. This likely require the use of a secondary method of removing water from the pool, such as an independent water pump.

   ​

2. There are slight differences in garden hose nozzle threads. This can cause some hoses not to screw properly onto the drain cap threading. Basic hoses have a higher probability of fitting the thread.
