Pump Operation Hours

Operation times are based on pool type and size in relation to the gallons per hour of the pump provided. The chart below is only a benchmark. Temperature, humidity, water conditions, etc., play a part in determining the length of time that your pump needs to run. Please note that maintenance and proper use of chemicals are essential to keeping your pool crystal clear. Numbers highlighted in yellow are the number of hours each pump needs to run daily.

What should I do to maintain my pool?

1. Pool chemicals should be used to keep water sanitary. Consult your local pool supply retailer for recommendations and specific safety information.

   ​

2. Check filter output daily. If the flow is reduced, select your pump:

3. Check the filter for leaks. If leaks are found, tighten all connections, check O-rings for damage, and liberally lubricate O-rings with silicone lubricant. See our O-Ring Care and Tips section for assistance.

   ​

4. Check seams in the pool periodically. Minor repairs may be made with the dry patch kit. Wet patches can be found at your local pool supply store.

To keep your pump and filter working properly, perform weekly preventative maintenance on the unit.

How to clean your filter cartridge:

1. ​

   For SFS filtration systems; Remove the lock top by turning it counterclockwise. Remove the strainer basket and filter cartridge.
   ​

   For SFX filtration systems; Remove the top cover by sliding it away from the pool. Remove the strainer basket and filter cartridge.

   ​

   For CP or RX filtration systems; Remove the Seal Top by turning it counterclockwise. Remove the filter cartridge.

   ​

   For RP filtration systems; Remove the Seal Top by turning the Seal Top Retainer counterclockwise. Remove the filter cartridge.

   ​

2. The filter cartridge can be cleansed of coarse dirt and debris by pressure washing inside and out with a garden hose. Make sure to wash between all pleats of the filter cartridge.

   ​

   Fine particles of dirt are easier to remove from filter pleats when the cartridge is dry. Therefore, after hosing the cartridge, allow the filter to dry and carefully brush, but do NOT scrub the pleated surface areas. Cleaning and scrubbing a filter too vigorously will wear out the cartridge much faster than if it is hosed off correctly.

   ​

3. Sunblock, body oils, lotions, and algae can form a coating on the filter pleats that may not be thoroughly removed by hosing. Such films of oils and/or algae will rapidly clog up the filter's pores, greatly reducing filtration. It is imperative to remove such materials from the filter element as soon as possible.

   ​

To remove oils, we recommend soaking the cartridge in a solution of 1 pound of trisodium phosphate (or any other strong detergent) to 5 gallons of water for up to 12 hours. Trisodium phosphate is available in many supermarkets, hardware stores, or janitorial supply stores. After the oils have been removed, rinse the filter cartridge to remove any dirt. If algae growth is a problem, add 1/2 pint of pool chlorine or 1 pint of liquid household bleach to the cleaning solution an hour before removing the filter cartridge from the solution. Thoroughly rinse the filter cartridge before replacing it in the filter case. Check the pool chemistry to determine the cause of algae growth.

HOW TO SELECT THE CORRECT PUMP

Each filtration system requires a specific pump and will only accept that pump (other pumps will not fit the filter).

Each liner will typically require a specific type of filter system (the liner openings are designed for that specific filter).

​

Filter systems are designed to use either submerged or non-submerged pumps.

​

​Determine which type of filter canister is required:

• Locate the filter canister model number.

  • Check the filter canister label; it will be right before the words “Swimming Pool Pump”

• Locate the pump model number.

  ​

SYSTEM ADD-ON

Hoses are an essential part to your Summer Escapes or Pro Series above-ground pool. Proper care for them will save you time and money. Below are tips for caring for the hoses.

​

1. Inspect hoses every time you assemble, take down or prepare to store your pool. Ensure all hoses are clean and free of debris. Check for cracks or other wear damage that may cause water leaks.

   ​

2. Be careful not to step on or lean up against the hoses. The plastic hoses may become damaged.

   ​

3. It is always advisable to keep a spare hose in case one becomes damaged. This will allow to keep using your pool instead of having to wait for a replacement hose to ship.

   ​

4. Ensure that hose clamps are installed but not too tight. Over tightening clamps may cause damage to the hoses.

​

FILTER CARTRIDGE CLEANING AND CARE

Note: Unplug pump from wall outlet before removing and / or replacing filter canister.

1. Once your filter cartridge is removed from your SFS / SFX / RP / RX / CP - 2000c canister, it”s time to rinse. Use a garden hose to rinse debris from between the pleats, moving from the top of your filter to the bottom. The sprayer on your kitchen sink also works. In both cases, adjust the water flow so not to damage the filter. Try to remove as much debris as possible. Flip the filter 180 degrees and, again, hose from the top down.

   ​

2. Inspect the filter for physical damage. The paper pleats might be torn from debris or over use. The plastic at the top and bottom may be worn, which makes a good seal impossible. Replace if necessary. You can purchase filters at our online store or by calling Polygroup customer service department at 1-888-919-0070.

   ​

3. For the next step you”ll need a bucket or a large trash can that”s big enough to hold your filters. This step will help you remove sunscreen, lotions, perspiration and oils. In order to do this, you”ll need to soak the filters in a store-bought filter cleaner, Trisodium Phosphate (one cup per five gallons of water) or dishwasher detergent (one cup per five gallons of water). Be sure to soak the filter cartridge for 1 to 10 hours. The longer you soak the filter, the better the cleaning.

   ​

4. Once your filter cartridge is done soaking, you”ll want to shake the filter while it”s still submerged to help loosen debris. If you still notice debris in between the pleats, you can repeat the rinsing steps. Be sure to remove all cleaning solutions and oils before proceeding.

   ​

Finally, give the filter cartridge one final rinse to spray off the acid/water solution. When reassembling your filter cartridge, it is recommended to apply a drop of silicon based lubricant to the o-ring to help extend its lifespan.

​

TIPS: Keep extra filters on hand. When one filter is removed from a canister system to be cleaned, use the extra filter. Rotate the filters each time you clean one. A properly maintained pool would need to clean/replace filters once every two weeks or so dependent on local conditions.

​

When a filter is cleaned, inspect it, just as with a car air filter, it is easy to determine when it is time to discard a filter and replace it. When your last new filter is placed into a filter canister, it is time to buy more. You can purchase filters at our online store or by calling customer service at 1-888-919-0070.

The CP2000 pumps themselves for the CP2000-C System & Sand Filter System appear to be similar, but are NOT the same. Pool liners need to be cleaned periodically. Follow these steps on how to clean stains from your pool liner.

​

Step 1: Drain the Pool

Drain the pool before starting the cleanup process to make sure you clean the entire liner. Follow the directions on your manufacturer's instructions to drain the pool properly.

​

Step 2: Remove the Liner

After the pool is drained, remove the liner following the manufacturer's instructions. Keep all parts together in a basket or bag as you will need them when putting the liner back.

​

Step 3: Scrub the Liner

Spread the liner on a flat, clean surface after checking it for sharp, blunt objects such as rocks, stones or nails that could puncture the liner. Secure the liner by placing buckets with smooth edges filled with water on the edges of the liner. Mix a solution of one part mild cleanser to two parts hot water and begin cleaning the liner using a sponge or soft brush. Do this in small sections, rinsing away the cleanser with a garden hose. Avoid scrubbing hard as you could tear the liner. Do not use any harsh, abrasive cleansers as these cause damage to the liner.

​

Leave the cleaning solution to sit on hard stains for at least 10 minutes before scrubbing again. If the stains do not dissolve immediately, repeat the process until they disappear or fade. Chlorine in pool chemicals prevents permanent stains, so it is rare that a stain can't be removed from a pool liner.

​

Step 4: Rinse

Rinse the entire liner again with a hose to wash away any remaining cleaning chemicals. Using clean rags or paper towels, dry the liner thoroughly before reinstalling it. You can store the liner or proceed to refill.

​

Step 5: Store Pool or Refill

Refill pool, ensuring the filtration system is installed and operating properly. Allow the pool filter to run for two days before adding the appropriate chemicals and using.

The safe operation and care of the rubber O-rings and seals are essential for Summer Escapes and Pro Series above-ground pools. Remember these pools are seasonal and exposure to adverse weather conditions will shorten the lifespan of rubber components of your pool. Below are tips on how to care for the rubber O-rings and seals on your pool.

​

1. Inspect the O-rings and seals every time you assemble or take down your pool. Clean the components with warm water and mild detergent only. Look for worn edges, fractures or cuts. Replace any O-ring or seal that appears to be less than perfect. Water may leak from damaged rubber components.

   ​

2. Keep a thin coat ofsilicon lubricanton all rubber components to extend their lifespan. The rubber components should have a fine sheen to them but not overly lubricated. Dry rot is one of the most prevalent causes of rubber component damage on a filtration system.

   ​

3. It is always advisable to keep a spare O-rings and seals in case one fails in the middle of your swim season. Having extras means there is no break of enjoyment of your pool for you and your family.

Using a pool cover and/or solar cover will assist in maintaining pH and chlorine levels by reducing the amount of evaporation from your pool.

​

Standard pool covers are made from a durable PVC material and have a rope tie to secure them. There are two types of standard pool covers: Frame Pool and Ring Pool style of pool covers.

​

The difference between these covers is size. A Ring Pool Cover will need to be larger so that it fits securely around the inflated ring.

​

Wal-Mart transparent pool covers have holes! These holes are to prevent damage to the pool from either rainwater or heavy winds.

​

Transparent, Adjustable Covers

Transparent adjustable pool covers are made from durable PVC material and have a rope tie to secure it. These covers come in adjustable sizes: 12-14 feet, 16-18 feet, and 16-22 feet.

​

Solar Blankets

Solar blankets float on top of the water inside the pool and assist in keeping the pool water warm. They are made from a durable PVC material and help reduce evaporation. Solar blankets do not attach around the edge of the pool, they simply float on top of the water. Polygroup does not produce solar blankets at this time.
